With crop diversification, changes in global climatic conditions and introduction of biotechnology in Agriculture the
scenario of pests: insects, diseases, weeds and nematodes is changing frequently. These factors have led to many
erratic biotic changes in Agro-Horti Ecosystem leading to conversion of minor to major pests, while major ones
developing polyphagy. Excessive use of pesticides to combat these problems have adverse effects on natural
enemies disturbing the natural ecological balances and also causing resurgence of potential pests due to chemical
resistance and decreased biotic pressure. Sporadic pests appear in epidemic forms and host crossovers have also
been recorded that are recognized globally. Pest infestation scenario is changing due to impact of emerging crop
pests, particularly the introduction of invasive unfamiliar species; therefore, it is pertinent to exchange information on
the pest status, qualitative and quantitative losses incurred by them to Agri-Horticultural crops and other plants of
economic importance; however judicious use of agro-chemicals is always beneficial. Hence, the conference is being
organized to address this problems and to find out eco-safe solutions
Aim of the Conference -
This national conference focuses on bringing scientist and researchers working in the field of plant
protection from leading academic institutes and research organizations to exchange and share
their research experiences in the major theme areas, to encourage students and young scientists
besides providing a platform to interact with eminent scientists.
